REMIX – Ultra Sunn: Keep Your Eyes Peeled (Kontravoid Remix)

by François Zappa

Belgian duo Ultra Sunn surely knows how to choose their friends: for this new remix they have asked Kontravoid, a producer that we have been following for quite a long time, to work with them. He has remixed one of their best tracks “Keep Your Eyes Peeled” with really good results. Lately, we have talked a lot about Ultra Sunn, and if you want to know a bit more about them, please read our interview. They are a EBM/coldwave duo that has had a big impact on the dark scene with their EP Night is Mine and the album Body Electric. Last year, we saw them at the Liège New Wave Festival, at Barcelona’s Ombra Festival and they inaugurated the live program of Bizarro parties. This year, they will play at Sinner’s Day, at the warm-up party of WTG and they will open for Nitzer Ebb. Wow!

Kontravoid is the moniker of Cameron Findlay, an EBM producer from Los Angeles who has been releasing material since 2011. Maybe you will remember his Too Deep from 2019 that was played literally everywhere. He has also remixed some really interesting artists such as Inhalt, Bestial Mouth (for the Valencian label Soil), Hante. (in our interview with Hélène, we asked to hear about the producer from L.A.) or Schwefelgelb. Here he is doing his best: making the track a bomb for the dance floor.

This new remix will be part of the new edition of their EP Night is Mine that will also include a remix by another of our favorite modern producers, SARIN who will be in charge of making “Night is Mine” a club classic. And, as they already told us in the interview we had with them before their concert in Madrid, Ultra Sunn are big fans of New Beat and they prove it with a remix of this style of the titled song of the EP. Add a couple of new tracks to all this, “Waves” and “Out of the Cage” and they will keep us checking our mailbox every day until the six of May, when the CD edition will be released. For the vinyl edition, we will have to wait until October. Both formats will be released by Cold Transmission.
