Founded in 2018 in Houston, Scream at the Sky offers high quality industrial metal. After releasing two singles in October and November 2019, their first EP, Scream at the Sky, is available since February 2020 in digital format. A video for the song “Save Yourself” was also released on YouTube last October after an exclusive release on Metal Devastation Radio.
Scream at the Sky is Bran Carter’s project, bassist of the band Dead Horse Trauma, and clearly claims his influences that will delight fans of Stabbing Westward, Korn and Bring Me The Horizon. There’s a clever mix of saturated voices and clear vocals without one taking precedence over the other, but also a few touches of hip-hop that gives the voice a rhythmic leadership role. The only title using female vocals, “My Life” raises the sound universe of the group, reaching more aerial and poignant layers, which adds relief to an EP very anchored in the ground and the rhythm. As for the drums, nothing is superfluous. Everything is sharp, precise, powerful and incisive, just like in BMTH. The synthesizers, more discreet, shape an ever-present musical background which contributes to strengthening the sound of the band. A wall of sound made of electric guitars with truly excellent distortion effects.
We really liked “Save Yourself” and its video. This title perfectly illustrates the mastery of composition and the melodic talents of this band. Moreover, this song delivers an extremely positive and hopeful message against the addiction that can’t leave anyone indifferent. Convinced by this first EP, we look forward to new creations. We can only highly recommend you plunge your ears into the sound universe of Scream at the Sky!
