British producer (The Cure, The Mission, Jane Weaver…) and member of Klammer Steve Whitfield together with French singer Fabrice Nau (The Drift, Kyu) have just published a new single as Scenius. It’s the third one of the synth-pop/dark-wave duo after the electro dancefloor banger that was “Glass Rain”, followed by “Wild & Wooly”, a darker and deeper track with an extraordinary production. The three songs can be heard and bought in the Bandcamp of the band. After listening to all of them, we are really curious about which direction the next tracks of Scenius are going to take.
Released only a couple of days ago, the new single “Held” is more atmospheric, giving another dimension to the sound of Scenius. The beginning of the song makes us think of the “Twin Peaks Theme” by Angelo Badalamenti but in a slower and colder version, another proof of the incredible ability of Steve Whitfield as producer and arranger. “Held” surrounds us with waves of keyboards until, around half of the song, the voice of Fabrice Nau appears, like coming from another world, as oneiric that we think that it’s coming straight from an old 4AD album. After four minutes, the song has ended, leaving us wanting more and with an irresistible urge of pressing Play again.
