Symphonic Noise Cult – Into The Light

by François Zappa

Today we want to talk about a dark pop trio called Symphonic Noise Cult, featuring Scott Mick on vocals, Winus Rilinger on instrumentals and production, and pianist and soundtrack composer Ulrich A. Beutgen. Into The Light is their second single, following My Figment, released a couple of months ago. Symphonic Noise Cult is preparing a debut LP to be released in the summer on the reputable VUZ records label, titled Behind the Curtain.

The new single features two new tracks, “Into The Light” and “Dreaming” which are accompanied by four remixes of the first one. Among the remixers we have our friend JL Marchal from Synthpop 80, Rodney Oprheus from the legendary Cassandra Complex, the Finnish dark electro band Shade Factory and The Eternal Afflict, the creators of the hit “San Diego (The Tragical)”.

After a spectacular entrance that reminds me of Japan, in “Into The Light” we find a catchy composition with a mysterious air, with multiple details in the production and in which Scott Mick’s passionate singing stands out. As for the remixes, Rodney gives prominence to the abrasive guitars while Shade Factory harden the rhythm, keeping just basics of the song. The track in the hands of The Eternal Afflict takes on a more playful and less solemn tone. And finally, JL Marchal increases the epicness of the song in a quite impressive remix that it’s our favorite of the four.,. The other new track, “Dreaming, shows us the more sensitive and delicate side of the band.
