Although it was released one month ago, I wanted to write a few lines about the beautiful version of Yazoo’s “Winter Kills” that futurepop legends Covenant have recorded. The original, one of the best songs written by the duo of Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke has always been a favorite of the Swedish band and you can really feel the respect and love that they have put in the interpretation. Also, 50% of the proceeds of the first week have gone to Lauterwerden, a charity festival for the support of crews and people working behind the stage.
Eskil Simonsson sings passionately over an industrial background where the original melody tries to sneak. Andriana Seecker adds some chorus that manages to improve an already outstanding cover.
This is the latest work from Covenant since the highly recommended Fieldworks Exkursion EP, from 2019. Hopefully, we will have new material soon.
