Spanish label Munster Records has just released a nice little box set that contains the 7″ released by the post-punk band Décima Víctima. With this and the reissue of their two albums (the eponymous and Un Hombre Solo), together with the demo album En el Garaje, we have available again all the material of the legendary band. Let’s remember that Munster had already released all this material in another box set, although on that occasion they dedicated a solo disc to the singles. Seeing the success of the two reissues of their albums, it is to be expected that the box set will be sold out in a short time.
As our readers know well, Décima Víctima is the most famous band of the first post-punk generation, being cited as an influence by current bands such as Twin Tribes or She Past Away and a lot of young artists are looking at at them. The band was born when the two brothers Lars and Per Mertanen joined Carlos Entrena, stopping their instrumental project Clausura Tenebrosa. After the first 7″, they were joined by drummer José Brena. The group created their own label, Grabaciones Accidentales together with producer Paco Trinidad and pop band Esclarecidos. On the label, one of the first independent ones in the country, released music by bands such as Derribos Arias, El Último Sueño or Los Coyotes. Although it would be Décima Víctima who would inaugurate the catalog with the first single El Vacío in 1982. A few months later they would continue with another 7“ with two of their most famous songs, ”Tan Lejos“ and ”El Signo de La Cruz”. Shortly after, the album Décima Víctima would follow and they would finish the fruitful year with another single, the fantastic Detrás de la Mirada. The following year, they would release a maxi and a 7″, both under the name Un Lugar en el Pasado, which contained the title track and different b-sides. These songs came together on the same disc in the box set. And in 1984, the band already split-up, they would release their last album, Un hombre Solo which would be accompanied by a single of two songs that also appeared on the album. After the separation Lars, Per and José Brena would form La Sala del Silencio together with Aurea Cuni who would only record some demos that Munster would release in 2017,
