Pour rappel <b>The Stirrings <\/b>est un groupe de rock exp\u00e9rimental n\u00e9 en 2018 de la rencontre entre Ra\u00fal Gal\u00e1n Berlanga (synth\u00e9tiseurs), Juan P\u00e9rez Marina (guitare) et le musicien new-yorkais, Ryan Louis Bradley (basse et chant). Paru le 29\u00a0janvier\u00a02021, <i>X-Ray Eyes<\/i> est disponible au format num\u00e9rique et vinyle.<\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><span class=\"s1\">L\u2019aspect exp\u00e9rimental n\u2019\u00e9tant pas l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment le plus frappant de \u00ab\u00a0Bottle of Filth\u00a0\u00bb<i>, <\/i>un titre accrocheur, mais assez classique, j\u2019attendais avec impatience ce que le groupe allait proposer dans son album. Cela valait la peine. Tout dans <i>X-Ray Eyes<\/i> semble minutieusement mesur\u00e9 et r\u00e9fl\u00e9chi. Les riffs de basse et de guitares sont d\u2019une efficacit\u00e9 redoutable. Les voix sont magnifiques. Elles sont mises en valeur par de belles m\u00e9lodies simples et faciles \u00e0 fredonner. Certains passages comme dans \u00ab<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Start a Riot<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00bb sont magnifi\u00e9s par des ch\u0153urs et contrechants avec des voix f\u00e9minines qui \u00e9clairent l\u2019ensemble de ce morceau \u00e0 la saveur de <b>Spiritualized<\/b>. La r\u00e9verb\u00e9ration du mixage est par moment d\u00e9licieusement stratosph\u00e9rique. \u00ab\u00a0I want you\u00a0\u00bb semble le m\u00e9lange impossible entre <b>Spacemen\u00a03<\/b> et <b>Lee\u00a0Hazlewood<\/b>, ce qui pourrait r\u00e9sumer la direction que prend le disque avec ce mix entre le rock classique de la fin des ann\u00e9es \u00a7\u00a00 (ce n\u2019est pas pour rien qu\u2019ils font la reprise du \u00ab\u00a0Five To One\u00a0\u00bb de <b>The Doors<\/b>) et du d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es\u00a070 ainsi que la distorsion et le bruit de la fin des ann\u00e9es\u00a080.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\" style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Ce qui change de ce que l\u2019on pourrait retrouver au sein d\u2019autres groupes de rock, c\u2019est l\u2019exploitation de la batterie. \u00c0 mon sens, il s\u2019agit l\u00e0 du point le plus exp\u00e9rimental des <b>Stirrings.<\/b><\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><span class=\"s1\">Dans <i>X-Ray Eyes<\/i>, les patterns bien connus de rock sont revisit\u00e9s par le traitement sonore du timbre de cet instrument\u00a0: un usage parcimonieux des cymbales (souvent r\u00e9duites au seul charleston) et plus de granulosit\u00e9, voire de souffle. Les sonorit\u00e9s, parfois plus diffuses et la plupart du temps soulign\u00e9es par des ambiances de synth\u00e9tiseurs, peuvent tromper l\u2019oreille. S\u2019agit-il d\u2019une batterie \u00e9lectronique, d\u2019un ordinateur ou d\u2019une batterie acoustique truff\u00e9e de micros<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">? Une ambigu\u00eft\u00e9 vraiment int\u00e9ressante. Pour l\u2019exemple, on peut citer les titres \u00ab<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Bad Disease<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00bb et \u00ab<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Gods &amp; Monsters<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00bb.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00ab<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">(Cathode)<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00bb et \u00ab<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">(Anode)<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00bb sont deux titres \u00e9tranges, mais judicieusement bien positionn\u00e9s au sein de l\u2019album. Ces deux courts tableaux musicaux et purement instrumentaux font la part belle aux ambiances de synth\u00e9. Ils accordent une pause rythmique bienvenue, une respiration.<\/span><\/span><\/p><p class=\"p1\"><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><span class=\"s1\">Je ne suis pas d\u00e9\u00e7u par <i>X-Ray Eyes<\/i>. M\u00eame s\u2019il ne r\u00e9volutionne pas le genre, le premier album de <b>The Stirrings<\/b> est tr\u00e8s color\u00e9 et r\u00e9confortant. La chaleur des voix et du mixage y est certainement pour beaucoup. De plus, les compositions sont tr\u00e8s bien pens\u00e9es avec de jolies m\u00e9lodies qui restent en t\u00eate ainsi que des \u00e9l\u00e9ments nouveaux, titre apr\u00e8s titre, qui renouvellent toujours le discours musical.
