On a \u00e9t\u00e9 agr\u00e9ablement surpris par le nouvel album de Jean-Marc Lederman, bas\u00e9 sur le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre et tragique voyage du Titanic. Cette nouvelle \u0153uvre a \u00e9t\u00e9 presque enti\u00e8rement compos\u00e9e, interpr\u00e9t\u00e9e et produite par Jean-Marc Lederman, \u00e0 l\u2019exception de \u00ab Nearer My God to Thee \u00bb, l\u2019hymne chr\u00e9tien du XIXe si\u00e8cle, qui fut la derni\u00e8re pi\u00e8ce jou\u00e9e par l\u2019orchestre du navire lors de la nuit fatidique o\u00f9 il coula. Difficile de raconter en quelques lignes l\u2019int\u00e9gralit\u00e9 de la carri\u00e8re de Jean-Marc chose que, par ailleurs nous esp\u00e9rons faire bient\u00f4t. Pour le moment, on va se contenter de vous dire qu\u2019en plus d\u2019avoir travaill\u00e9 avec Fad Gadget,<\/strong> il a fait partie de groupes tels que Gene Loves Jezebel<\/strong> ou The Weathermen<\/strong>, et a enregistr\u00e9 plusieurs albums solo tels que Ode a la Pluie<\/em> et 13 Ghost Stories<\/em>. The Helpless Voyage of The Titanic<\/em>, sert de m\u00e9taphore de ces derniers jours, o\u00f9 le Coronavirus est l\u2019iceberg contre lequel nos vies se sont \u00e9cras\u00e9es et o\u00f9 le nombre de canots de sauvetage n\u2019est pas suffisant. Vous pouvez \u00e9couter l\u2019album, dont il existe \u00e9galement une \u00e9dition limit\u00e9e sur CD, ici.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Dans le premier morceau, un groupe de musique joue sur les quais alors que le navire part de Southampton en direction du cauchemar que nous connaissons tous. L\u2019album est parsem\u00e9 de toutes sortes d\u2019effets sonores pour que l\u2019immersion soit compl\u00e8te, \u00e0 l\u2019exception de l\u2019air de la musique du d\u00e9but du XXe si\u00e8cle que Lederman parvient \u00e0 incorporer \u00e0 toutes les pistes. Dans les premiers morceaux, on visite tous les coins et recoins du navire, \u00e0 commencer par les chaudi\u00e8res dans \u00ab The Boiler Room \u00bb : ici, un fond sonore industriel typique de la pi\u00e8ce o\u00f9 se trouvent les machines contraste avec des sons rappelant celui d\u2019une harpe. Un rythme lourd prend le relais de la magnifique \u00ab The Dancehall \u00bb, dont la beaut\u00e9 est rev\u00eatue du halo de la trag\u00e9die qu\u2019on attend tous. Lors de notre parcours, on passe de l\u2019abstraction de \u00ab The Fireman’s Passage \u00bb au malaise cr\u00e9\u00e9 par \u00ab The Captain Quarter \u00bb, l\u2019un des meilleurs morceaux de l\u2019album. \u00ab Dreams of the New World in the Lower Decks \u00bb est tr\u00e8s diff\u00e9rent : on peut presque distinguer les r\u00eaves et les espoirs des jeunes gar\u00e7ons de cabine dans ce morceau qui est le plus lumineux de l\u2019album. Du bas du navire, on monte dans les cabines de premi\u00e8re classe, alors qu\u2019on sent le navire se diriger inexorablement vers sa destination. La trag\u00e9die a lieu dans le court morceau industriel \u00ab Newfoundland, April 14 1912 \u00bb et on sent le navire s\u2019\u00e9craser sur l\u2019iceberg. Un SOS en morse s\u2019\u00e9coute en arri\u00e8re-plan de \u00ab Save Our Souls \u00bb, l\u2019un des morceaux les plus troublants, qui nous transmet ce que l\u2019\u00e9quipage a d\u00fb ressentir \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque. \u00ab The Lifeboats \u00bb, d\u2019autre part, est un morceau \u00e9l\u00e9gant de musique \u00e9lectronique qui augmente en intensit\u00e9 \u00e0 mesure que le nombre de bateaux diminue. \u00ab White Star\/White Heat \u00bb joue avec le nom de la compagnie maritime propri\u00e9taire du Titanic et le morceau de Velvet Undergound<\/strong> tandis que \u00ab The Piano Room \u00bb est un morceau solennel qui me rappelle les derni\u00e8res \u0153uvres de Leyland Kirby.<\/strong> Pour finir, avec un vieux son vinyle, on \u00e9coute une minute de \u00ab Nearer My God To Thee \u00bb, alors que le son se noie progressivement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Avec cet album, Jean-Marc Lederman,<\/strong> nous a offert un merveilleux voyage qui, contrairement \u00e0 celui du Titanic, s\u2019est concr\u00e9tis\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
