The tireless duo of Emileigh Rohn<\/strong> and Jean-Marc Lederman<\/strong> released last month a new LP, entitled Volcano<\/em>, featuring twelve new synth-pop compositions of flawless craftsmanship. It\u2019s the sixth album in a collaboration that began in 2021 with Venus Chariot<\/em>, and since then they\u2019ve released a full record every year. And since in March they have already released a record, we can assume we\u2019ll get EPs\u2014or another album\u2014before we reach 2027. We\u2019ve already spoken in depth about both artists and most of their releases have been reviewed in El Garaje<\/em>, so we\u2019ll skip that part this time. <\/span>The album has been released by Les Disques de la Pantoufle on CD, and it\u2019s also available digitally.<\/span><\/p>

Although we hate repeating ourselves, this new album shares the same positive aspects: excellent songwriting, Emileigh\u2019s outstanding performance, and imaginative arrangements from Jean-Marc. That\u2019s something genuinely surprising in such a prolific trajectory. And while we might highlight a few standout moments, the overall standard of the songwriting remains consistently high\u2014never dropping for a single track.<\/span><\/p>

As for the track-by-track rundown, the emotional intensity of the album is already hinted at by the cover\u2019s picture: \u201cAll Ahead Was Joy\u201d<\/strong> grabs you immediately, thanks to Emileigh\u2019s emotive voice\u2014pure, fragile, almost childlike. The music that accompany her beautiful singing is just as delicate, with surges of feeling even as early as the second-minute forty mark. A powerful start, without doubt.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cHopscotch Across Colored Chalk\u201d is one of the album\u2019s most compelling and surprising compositions: futuristic yet delicate at the same time. \u201cPaper Plane\u201d is sensual and dreamy synth-pop. The duo grows more tender on \u201cThere\u2019s So Much Here to Share,\u201d propelled by a pressed, melodic lift. They stay in that register for \u201cThat Message Brings You Home,\u201d<\/strong> one of the album\u2019s best tracks\u2014truly captivating and deeply moving.<\/span><\/p>

But not everything is about tugging at the heartstrings; the next track turns up the heat, with stronger guitars and a more danceable, playful electronics. \u201cThe Future Knows Much Better\u201d is, moreover, one of the catchiest songs on the record. \u201cAnimals Take The Stage\u201d benefits from a heartfelt performance by Emileigh and a very modern production.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cI\u2019ll Be Back Within a Moment\u201d blends tradition and modernity, resulting in one of those perfectly crafted pop songs. \u201c<\/strong>Where Does Love Beguine?\u201d is simply another beautiful track\u2014music that lifts you emotionally. \u201cShowing Signs of Grace\u201d sounds darker, in the way we like, and it\u2019s another showcase for Jean-Marc\u2019s skills as a producer.<\/span><\/p>

After ten tracks, the classic entry of \u201c<\/strong>To Greener Grass\u201d still manages to surprise, reaffirming the duo as true magicians of electronic pop. We close with \u201cWe Become The Sky,\u201d another emotional gem\u2014just enough to let the final tear fall.<\/span><\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
