The albums by minimal synth\/electro pioneer\u00a0Enzo Kreft<\/strong>\u00a0are always a response to the social or political situations we are experiencing, and in\u00a0Dictator,<\/em>\u00a0his new work once again offers an incisive critique of our times. The Belgian musician, whom we have mentioned on several occasions, released two very interesting cassettes in the early 1980s (reissued by Valhalla Records a few years ago) and since 2016 has been releasing albums regularly, with highlights including\u00a0Wasteland<\/em>,\u00a0Control<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Different World<\/em>. Continuing with his habit of releasing an album every two years (although in 2023 he also released a compilation called\u00a0XL<\/em>), Dictator presents twelve new tracks recorded and produced by\u00a0Enzo<\/strong>\u00a0himself. Although the Belgian musician has never disappointed us in recent years, this is undoubtedly one of his best works, as it features excellent compositions accompanied by a detailed production.
<\/span>
Dictator<\/em> starts with \u2018Blindfoldded Liberty\u2019, an unsettling instrumental with a heavy, martial rhythm that immediately draws you into the album\u2019s mood. With \u2018Self-Proclaimed Savior of the Nation\u2019, it becomes clear where things are headed. All of the dictator\u2019s lies are accompanied, in this case, by a powerful danceable rhythm and beautiful keyboards. The military rhythms return in \u2018Propaganda Parade\u2019, a fun track with incisive lyrics. \u2018Citadel of Fear\u2019 is one of the best tracks on the album, with meticulous production and great synthesizers. After the solemnity of the previous track, \u2018Chains of Silence\u2019 has a heavy and oppressive sound, like life in a country ruled by censorship. \u2018The Iron First\u2019s Dance\u2019, sung with a vocoder, is very catchy and shows\u00a0Enzo<\/strong>\u2018s sense of humour. We continue with the fast rhythms of \u2018Penal Colony\u2019, a track with sharp synthesizers and another great, very imaginative production. \u2018Marty\u2019s Melody\u2019, on the other hand, is an intimate and emotional track. More cheerful is \u2018Unyielding Sparks\u2019, a song dedicated to the people who resist, like the previous track. \u2018Hey Mr. Dictator\u2019 is Enzo\u2019s peculiar settling of scores with the protagonist of the album, accompanied by ominous synths. \u2018The Sword and the Pen\u2019, with spoken word, is an emotional track with an epic touch. The album ends with \u2018Dawn of Dissent\u2019, an instrumental track in which a broadcast tells us about the fall of the dictator.\u00a0Dictator<\/em>\u00a0comes to an end with cries of joy from the liberated people and, possibly, from the listener.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
