I\u2019ve been going to Primavera Sound for ten years now, and this edition for me, has been one of the best: like a festival Benjamin Button, Primavera has managed to rejuvenate with the years. Unfortunately, it\u2019s not my case. I began writing this chronicle on Thursday, after a not really memorable Wednesday. After three very interesting days, some of my opinions have changed but some still hold. For example, even if the brands have always been present at the festival, it keeps calling the attention to see a damn Pull&Bear shop, where there were once music stores. Of course, the public has also changed. Each time there are more curious people who don\u2019t stop talking during the gigs, without paying attention to what happens on the stage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>On Wednesday, we missed Melenas <\/b>because my flight with EasyJet was delayed. We thus began our day with Hatchie<\/b>. There were a lot of loudmouth English people among the audience, which was rare in front of the stage. However, a lot of people were sitting on the meadow in the distance. She began with \u201cTry,\u201d but the concert only began to become more interesting with the second tune, \u201cObssessed.\u201d Then came one of her more famous tune, \u201cSugar and Spicy,\u201d and another one, slower, \u201cStay True to Your Heart.\u201d \u201cKiss the Stars\u201d is the only tune I would qualify of dream pop. In my opinion, I would describe the rest as simple pop. \u201cBad Guy,\u201d another good tune of commercial pop, was accompanied by unintentional sound effects coming from the laughs of drunk English people. The last songs consisted of \u201cSleep,\u201d her best song \u201cWithout a Blush,\u201d \u201cSure\u201d and one tune that, according to her, she only had played once: \u201cStay with Me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>After this, it was Cuco<\/b>\u2019s turn to appear on stage. As the time was passing, more and more people were coming to the gig of the Mexican artist resident in the United States. In one of his first tunes, \u201cLover is a Day\u201d the singer used the trumpet. This was then followed by another one from his sole album, Songs4u,<\/i> \u201cWe had to end it.\u201d People began to get energized with \u201cSummer Time High Time,\u201d above all when the first words in Spanish from \u201cAmor de Siempre\u201d could be heard. They continued with \u201cHidrocodone,\u201d some small issue with the right screen occurred during \u201cNeon Baby\u201d and \u201cLo que siento,\u201d another song in Spanish, which was, together with \u201cLucy,\u201d the most acclaimed of his performance. He finished with an unexpected version of \u201cSufre Mam\u00f3n\u201d or \u201cDevu\u00e9lveme a mi chica\u201d (by its true name) that definitely conquered the audience.<\/span><\/p>\n

Big Red Machine\u2019<\/b>s show was burdened by the great number of talkative curious people who crowded the forum. Plus, this was maybe a too intimist proposal for a free day. They began with \u201cGratitude,\u201d followed by \u201cEasy to Sabotage,\u201d a new tune not featured on their sole album, \u201cAir Stryp,\u201d \u201cLyla,\u201d the autotune-filled \u201cStyffe\u201d and \u201cHymmostic.\u201d They followed with the piano theme \u201cPeople Lullaby,\u201d a more relaxed tune of a very little festive set. With the band, Julien Baker<\/b>, wearing a T-shirt of Messi and another chorus girl were singing barely audible choirs intermittently. They also played an instrumental theme, \u201cMisha,\u201d and some electro rhythms gave way to \u201cI Won\u2019t Run from It.\u201d An intro which sounded like Massive Attack<\/b> marked the beginning of \u201cHickson.\u201d Then, more tunes: \u201cOMDB,\u201d \u201cDeep Green,\u201d which reminds me of Peter Gabriel,<\/b> and a new one, called \u201cReese.\u201d The show ended with \u201cMelt,\u201d and we run out of the festival to take a taxi. Surprisingly, we were very lucky and a few minutes after, we were already having a drink in front of the Apolo venue.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>We entered early in the Apolo, and we went to the 2 room in order to assist to Lolina<\/b>\u2019s live. After a part I would call deconstructed to speak like a modernist, her show began to be more consistent while the beats were getting more and more present. This was the surprise of the day, and we took note of her name to go and see her in a better occasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

After that, we went to the main room to go and see Coucou Chloe.<\/b> We were eager to see her, because we quite appreciate her tunes. One DJ was preparing the ambiance, and she came to sing with a perfect playback \u201cFlip U,\u201d some tunes we did not even recognize and our favourite, \u201cGS.\u201d She jumped, showed her butt (I was not watching the stage at that time), and she danced a lot. However, in general, the audience sang far more than her.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span>We finished the day with\u00a0Fucked Up,<\/b> in what would prove to be one of the best gigs of the festival. With a thunderous volume, they began with \u201cDose Your Dreams,\u201d followed by \u201cSon the Father,\u201d \u201cCrooked Head,\u201d Raise Your Voice Joyce,\u201d and a continuous craziness of crowdsurfing people. There were almost always people flying above the audience in the first rows, and the singer repeated several times that this was one of his best shows ever. In the last two tunes, \u201cAccelerate\u201d and \u201cThe Other Shoe,\u201d people made a circle and began to pogo in a crazy way. It was really amazing. After this, tired and still with my backpack, I made my way back to the hotel to grab some sleep. Some marathon days were still waiting for me in the forum.<\/span><\/p>\n
