Little Nemo – Esterel Sessions

by François Zappa

French coldwave band Little Nemo has just released a new EP of three tracks, this time all unreleased, which closes a trilogy started in 2023 with Hérouville Sessions and Tangentes Sessions. In the interview we had with them a few years ago for their concert at the Ombra Festival they already told us about these first two EPs in which we find more current versions of classic songs. Now this new EP that has been remixed and produced by Nicolas Dufaure and that you can find on all platforms, presents us the current face of one of the fundamental bands of the coldwave.

Little Nemo was born in 1983, and together with Asylum Party and Mary Goes Round, they were labeled as Touching Pop, the most melancholic and catchy side of coldwave. The band recorded some of the best albums of the era, such as 1987’s Past and Future, Sounds in the Attic, Turquoise Days or The World is Flat. After this album, they split up, but luckily for their fans, they came back in 2008 and since then they have played festivals like W-Fest or Ombra in Barcelona. On this new EP, which the band was planning to release also in physical together with the two previous ones, we have two tracks by Nicolas Dufaure and one by Vincent Le Gallo. “My Lifes is a Mess” has a melancholic air and is surprisingly catchy. It features an electronic beat, pulsating bass and nice guitars. Nicolas’ other composition, “Live The Dream” is a powerful track with fierce guitars and I am sure it gets even better live. For his part, Vincent sings the only track in French, “Libert’yN, a bit poppier and delicate with a nice melody.
